During my extensive research and practice of the science of nature cure, I came across scores of books written by different writers. People who could not find relief in any form of therapy, in despair turned to natural methods of treatment, which proved beneficial and so they took to studying the subject and then wrote about their experiences. These people belonged to diverse sections of society. There are hundreds of books each addressing a different topic. Some are about ailments, some about food, some about water treatment, and some cover the basics only. Louis Kuhne is the master in water treatments, Arnold Ehret writes on mucus less diets, Adolf Just writes in his book 'Return to nature' about natural baths by water, air and sun, clothing, earth, and fire used as enemy etc. There are wonderful books written by Indian writers in Hindi, barring a few such as by H.K. Bakhru and Kulranjan Mukherji who wrote in English as well. In my pursuit of books I felt the need of collecting all the precious material from all over, compile, sieve, and put them all together in one book. So that it can benefit the students as well as the beginners wanting to practice Naturopathy. I have tried to extract the gist from the experiences of great writers and pioneer of Naturopathy and have tried to put them together, in a compiled form. Simultaneously to this I have added some more mixtures, garnished them with my experiences and this is my humble effort to try to explain to the reader, the basic fundamentals of the science of naturopathy in a very simple and scientific manner. Every individual is different and no two human bodies are alike even though they appear anatomically similar. Hence every body responds in a different way to whether it is drugs, emotions, environment, or treatment pattern. Likes and dislikes are different; tastes and habits vary from person to person therefore what is good for one may not be good for another. No hard and fast rules can be laid down but a general pattern of dos and don'ts assembled with individual needs constitute the basis of naturopathy. A practitioner is capable of bringing relief to the person with this basic know-how, a little common sense, knowledge of body parts and the five elements and the art of balancing them within a body. As we will learn later in this book in the initial chapters on philosophy and principles of nature cure that the cause of all diseases is same (accumulation of foreign matter), treatment is same (removal of foreign matter) and the medicines used are same (the five elements from which the body is made up of). Hence in fact no conventional diagnostic procedures are required. But by the time the person reaches a Naturopath, or is tired of running around and wishes to try some home remedies on himself, he has already been thoroughly investigated and diagnosed by modern techniques. All this makes the job of Naturopaths easier they now already know the site and extent of accumulation of foreign matter. On the contrary in spite of this ease most of the time the task at the hands of a Naturopath is much more difficult than other streams of medicines because the patient usually comes very late, only after having tried every possible ��pathy� or mode of treatment available. Medicines taken and surgeries performed make the task tough, complicated and time consuming and some times impossible. There are no quick relief medicines but if sufficient life force is remaining the patient will not only cure from the ailment they came for but will get rid of all the diseases which they had in past and so will rejuvenate totally. And people wanting to treat themselves will need a strong will power to switch over to naturopathy and change the pattern of treatment and have enough courage to tide over the phase of �healing crises� without making use of miracles drugs, he or she has been used to. "N� vittaen Tarpaniyo manushyah" Meaning: - man cannot be gratified with brimming riches. His body should be capable of making use of those riches. My thought process is based on the Indian System of Naturopathy which takes its roots from Veda, Bhagvat Gita, and Upanishad etc. however I have tried to abstain myself from over quoting, lest it would become too literary for a person who only wants to know the basic fundamentals; and whatever quotes have been added I have tried to give translated explanations of the verses written in Sanskrit. There are certain topics like �Fasting�, �Enema�, �Yoga�, and �Food as medicine' etc, which are whole subjects in themselves and many writers have written books on them separately. It can take volumes to go completely into these subjects I have touched the high spots and essential basics relevant to treatment only. For example, in foods, it is important to know what foods contain which nutrient but I have refrained myself from going into the chemistry more than the mention of their chemical names. My purpose is to provide an over view of every topic under one umbrella in a way so that the students of naturopathy can have a basic knowledge of all and after going through this book they will know what more to look for. This book will provide a comprehensive guide for the students of naturopathy 'treatment, the nature's way'. �Volume I� of the book deals with the topics pertaining to philosophy of nature cure, introducing the pioneers, detailing the principles on which naturopathy is based, explaining the means of nature cure, a special mention of the theory of three cavities, conceptualised by a practitioner of Naturopathy, a little about human body followed by detailing the methods of treatment by ether, air, fire, water and earth. Earth includes its produce hence there is introductory information on what is available to us that can be used as medicine followed by their medicinal attributes. Volume II is about making use of this information in Volume I and applying it to some diseases of common occurrence. So it will be of use to have them both handy for referencing as they are complementary. "Nature cures, not the physician" -Hippocrates I am open to corrections and will learn from them. I am offering to the readers what I got from the pioneers of this branch of medicine. I will feel contented if the readers find this book valuable, interesting and up to their expectations.
