What is a Lhasa Apso? The breed came to the United States during the 1930‛s. Several different American visitors to Tibet fell in love with the terrier breed named for their place of origin. Lhasa, the capital of Tibet was the major city for the Tibetan breed. The city of Lhasa was a center for the religion of the area Buddhism. The monks each adopted a terrier type dog and the name of the city was soon attached to this breed. Thus the name Lhasa Apso came into being. Lhasa‛s are a small dog averaging 17 lbs and tend to live long lives. 20 year life spans are not unusual. They have beautiful fl owing coats which require much brushing and cleaning. The long hair helped to protect the Lhasa‛s in the severe winter of the Himalayas. Lhasa‛s make good companion dogs. They seem to understand their heritage and are a proud dog. Fiercely loyal to their masters as well. Their keen sense of hearing make them an excellent Watch Dog. They like to play and generally enjoy younger children. Sometimes Lhasa‛s can be a bit mischievous. On occasion when the Lhasa goes too far, it is best to talk in a gentle way to correct his error. When you swat him with a newspaper, he will tend to fi ght back. I discovered this early in my relationship with Boomer.

I recently wrote a book in honour of my beloved Boerboel and Cross Boerboel dogs. It is a book that highlights a series of events which transformed me from a girl who didnt like dogs to a lady whose heart has been filled with unconditional love for them. It is an amazing story of love in its truest and most sincere form. Boerboels are intelligent, self-assured dogs bred to have extremely strong guarding instincts, and it is the only breed in the world bred with only one purpose, to guard and protect his family. The book highlights how cross breeding and inter breeding has led to many Boerboels in South Africa becoming prone to getting elbow and hip dysplasia. Three of my dogs were diagnosed with hip dysplasia with two having been put to sleep as a result of this condition. By writing this book I hope to create awareness in many ways. Firstly, to let people know the love and joy that animals bring into our lives and show them how rewarding it can be. Secondly, to raise awareness about buying Boerboels from registered breeders and lastly, to put more focus on the beautiful South African Boerboel itself, in an effort to preserve the breed. The book highlights love, loyalty, happiness, sadness and tells of my experiences over the years with my 5 fur kids. This is a book that will inspire people to never give up but to keep on trying.

This is a true story of how we came to have a wonderful dog as part of our family. It's a story about an orphan puppy that becomes top dog in a family that adopts him and loves him. The name Sgt Major is considered to be Top Dog in the army. The homeless dog in the animal rescue shelter needed a family and they esteemed him to be the best dog they could ever ask for. Our family made him a top dog because he was so loving and turned out to be the most rewarding of all the dogs we have ever owned.
My children and I thought it was time to find a good home for our baby bunny rabbits that we had raised in our back yard. So we brought them to the local animal rescue shelter to be adopted by a family that wants to have a loving pet. That is where you go when you want to adopt a pet. We saw so many cats and dogs while we were there that needed to be adopted to a good and loving home. Our hearts were filled with compassion as we looked at each one. All the animals looked so sad and scared without having a good home of their own. It is a very happy ending when you can pick a lost animal to bring home. Everyone is happy. When we love animals they fill our hearts with joy. Animals are very happy too when they are cared for and loved by their owner's.
