This book is a beautiful and concise discussion of Judaisms place in humankind, and the role of the individual Jew in contributing to the tapestry of Judaism. In every generation, Jews covenant with God as partners to be a shining example of righteousness, based upon the lessons of the Torah. The tapestry of Judaism represents the interweaving of all of the individual threads of Jews past and present who have used their God-given talents toward this end. Every Jew needs to weave his/her thread so that the tapestrys brilliance may continue to shine for all humankind. This book would be of interest to any Jew seeking a better understanding of Judaisms place in humankind and our place in Judaism.

Why another book on the Sabbath?... My intention in presenting this book is to extract from the radiant crown of the Sabbath one gem that needs, I believe, further polishing to release its brilliance and beauty. The Sabbath invites us all to lend our hearts and minds to the task of renewed discovery within its limitless layers of holiness and blessing, of a most dazzling jewel on Sabbathʼs sacred tiara- the gem of gratefulness. What infuses the many facets of the Sabbath is the underlying opportunity it offers to rediscover life as a gift, experience gratitude for being alive, and articulatie this gratefulness in many expressive and heartfelt ways. I write this essay on the Sabbath as a humble midrash, a commentary, on a sacred text, Heschelʼs The Sabbath, and as a belated response of a grateful heart to a poet who has enlightened not only the hearts of Jews everywhere but the soul of all humanity as well.

Who are the “Palestinians”? When did they come into being? Why? And how so? What theological, political, historical, and ethical significance does their invention have? How should we understand the historical and religious significance of the recent invention of the “Palestinian people” and the possible invention of a new country called ‘Palestine’? In this groundbreaking text, 27 myth-shattering theses are put forth and argued in detail using the resources of Psychoanalysis, Talmud and Torah, Philosophy, and History. The author engages in criticisms of key thinkers (Slavoj Zizek, Alain Badiou, Jean-Paul Sartre, Ernesto Laclau, Edward Said, etc.) and relies on the work of writers as diverse as Joan Peters, Shlomo Sand, and Rashid Khalidi. Radical views are put forth on various topics including Judaism, the Middle East, and Theology. The Invention of the “Palestinians” is unlike any book you have read.
