Speed has always had a very special attraction for man. This may help explain why it is that man's love affair with the motorcycle has endured for so long. But while motorcycles have long been regarded as synonymous with speed, careful reflection will reveal that this alone could not have captivated the attention of so many for so long and to such an extent that it could rightly be called an obsession!
It is probably true to say that there are many reasons for this fixation with the motorcycle. The aspect of speed, with it's obvious connection to man's competitive nature, coupled with the sheer exhilaration of the riding experience, the power, noise and vibration of the engine, and the notion of being in control of a masterpiece of engineering, is all somehow conducive to an increased sense of personal freedom that could only be described as the freeing of one's very spirit.
