This book was written for people who feel overwhelmed, confused, or simply turned off by all the conflicting dog training methods available to us today. There is so much information (created by people) on the subject that it is difficult to sort out whos right, whos wrong, what works, and what doesnt work. I have designed this simple book to touch on the basic things that apply to all dogs and their owners because its not my way, its natures waya sensible, universal place to start regardless of what kind of dog or puppy you have because its encoded in their genes.
As an educator, I enjoy teaching people how to live more balanced lives with their pets because I believe dogs are meant to be in our lives as stress reducers, not stress producers. People should have a pet to enjoy them, not to annoy them. If your dog is causing you stress, chances are you are doing the same to him. Who you are and how you interact on a daily basis with your dog will determine what kind of leadership style you represent and what kind of feedback your dog will give you in return.
Good Puppy Academics incorporates the science of the mind along with canine psychology to achieve a balance that enhances the human and canine partnership. You will discover how pain versus pleasure, problem-solving and having the no skill no kill mentality can help you to tap into your dogs primal intelligence and train your dog more efficiently and humanely because its not my way, its natures way.

This book is great for every dog owner, whether you are a new owner or a person who has had dogs all their lives. As the saying goes, every dog can learn new tricks. Great as a refresher if you haven't had a puppy for awhile, just wanting to learn something new or if you want some clarification of things you have heard; this book is worth the price and time it will take to read it.
I have trained with Margie and learned as much as my dog. I learned things that helped to create a willing and happy dog.
Great Book

It doesn't matter whether you are a raw, never had a puppy before trainer or someone who has had dogs all of their lives and has trained every one of them, this book will help you get the best results possible from the time you spend training your puppy.
As someone who trains her own mobility assistance dog, this book has given me better ways to train my next service dog. Margie just doesn't spit words out to fill a page, she puts years of experience, research and a love for dogs into each word, sentence and page. Great read for someone who wants to be a better more responsible owner.

My husband and I have had the privilege to work with Margie in training our dog Clara. She gave us great tools to become a happy well adjusted dog family. Margie is a very knowledgeable and passionate dog trainer who has a background in early childhood development which she has applied very effectively to understanding and training dogs. This book is a great read and has all the information to help one become a responsible pet owner.
