‘Lyrical Fountain’ is my second published collection of poems. It is a work of creative art, a historical thesis of growth and development, and presented to you with a strong conviction that it will be an inspiration to all who partake of its healing properties. One God, One Aim, One Destiny.
James Messam was born in the beautiful island of Jamaica, in the cool hills of North Central Clarendon, in a small district called Suttons; a plantation from where 400 slaves escaped in 1690 to join the Maroons. I grew up in Rock River with my Aunt Beryl Miller. I attended the Rock River All Age School, the Mico Teachers College (now the Mico University College) in Kingston, Jamaica. I did my Bachelors in Education at the Institute of Education London (IOE). I’ve been a teacher, social worker, cultural ambassador, orator, parish councillor, but above all, a performance poet who has won several gold medals in the Jamaica Cultural Development Speech and Drama Competitions.
