Z. Philip Ambrose is the Lyman-Roberts Professor-Emeritus of Classical Languages and Literature and former Chair of the Department of Classics at the University of Vermont, where he taught Greek and Latinfrom 1962 to 2006. He is a musician and has published studies of theclassical influence upon Bach's poets.
