Alimay T. Kendrick Cylburn Arboretum Association Inc., former Director, Board of Directors, is also professional photographer with experience spanning over sixty (60) years.She studied photography with the master photographer, Elmer Purdy, at the GraduateSchool of Photography in Washington D.C., and drawing under Professor Marashiti at theMaryland Institute of Art. She also took various advanced courses in film, color and blackand white photography, lighting, lenses, and camera.
Before her retirement, she was a scientific and technical photographer for theDepartment of the Army, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. She was commended forthe “excellent work that she accomplished for the Center”. “All of her work was completedin a timely and competent manner reflecting skill and mastery of the work that she wasassigned.” Her cheerful cooperation contributed to the accomplishment of the Center’soverall mission.
She has continued her photography at Cylburn, photographing numerous projects,planned, and produced two photographic collages entitled “Cylburn, A Bee-Hive ofActivities” for the Arboretum. Additionally, she has produced several albums of theArboretum activities, including programs, gardens and trees. Some of these works arehoused at the Arboretum and are available to Cylburn Directors, and member for theiryearly current events projects of the Arboretum Association.
