As a very young kid, I always had a fascination with storytelling especially in films such as: Hook, The Indian in the Cupboard, Batman, and Radio Flyer. I loved the feeling of being taken into worlds where adventures seemed to be everlasting. These films inspired me to draw and write stories that involved toys coming to life and taking children to fun and exciting places, similar to the ones in The Wizard of Oz and Peter Pan. Yet, as I grew older, I threw my Power Rangers and Ninja Turtles away and focused on a different genre. Horror. Although scared of what lurked in my screeching bedroom closet at night, terrified to say Candyman even away from mirrors, and constantly watching my back on Halloween for Michael Myers, I was oddly fascinated with the art of fright. So I studied John Carpenter, Wes Craven, Hitchcock, and Stephen King, wanting to create horror stories as captivating and thought-provoking as their writings. Soon, my drawings began to slip off the pages, with enough invading words to fill a library. Nonetheless, something began to happen to me when I became a teenager. At this time, a young person’s hormones are jumping through the roof and all one can think about is…you guessed it…sex! Films like Cruel Intentions, Jawbreaker, Wild Things, and most of Spike Lee’s classics, made me the up most intrigued in sexual encounters and the consequences of giving into lustful impulses. So after along fascination with zombies, masked killers, and vampires, I began to write stories more teen oriented. Stories of the girl who got her heartbroken, the nerd who liked the most popular girl in school, and so on, interested me. In the mid 90’s actors such as: Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Ryan Phillippe were teen Hollywood royalty, in my eyes. They gave life to films about young teens discovering what love means. Nevertheless, the beautiful 90’s passed and the roaring new millennium came to light. Going on, I’ll never forget it. It was the summer of 2007 and I had gone inside a Borders Bookstore to read and find movies. I wanted to write about nearly everything that had influenced me from childhood to my teenage years. I desired to write drama, romance, suspense, and mystery all in the same genre…a genre summed up best by the erotic thriller. Furthermore, my eyes were glued to the alluring Sharon Stone on the cover of her arguably most influential role as Catherine Tramell in Basic Instinct. I loved the character Stone played. Catherine Tramell, a mind-screwing, seductive, and homicidal maniac was a perfect devil in disguise. In a strange since, I felt as though she gave birth to The B.E.D and greatly inspired me to study sexuality and examine it closely. I am not a writer of a particular genre yet erotica gave me the boost I needed to create stories of passion meets peril, and for that, I am thankful. And so my journey continues…
