Jeanette Howeth Crumpler, although born in Oklahoma, moved to Texas when she was three months old and has been a “Texan” since. She attended schools in Wichita Falls and Dallas and North Texas State University and SMU. Her working career included being a legal Secretary and working as a volunteer in special education classes for the deaf. After working for a major hospital and then at a major oil company, she retired to pursue a freelance writing career.

Ms. Crumpler has had articles published in magazines such as Weekend Gardener, Texas Gardener, The Tomato Club, The New Garden Journal, The White Rocker, Lakewood People as well as the Dallas Morning News and the Wichita Falls Times Record News and other publications. She has been profiled in several publications, has been on public broadcasting radio and in the television documentary Remember When, Memories of Old Dallas. Ms. Crumpler has written three books, The Lakewood StarWalk As Seen Thru The Eyes of D.O.T., Lakewood – Memoirs and Spirit and Street of Dreams, A History of Dallas’ Theatre Row.

She is also an interpreter for the deaf and has written articles for the Dallas Alliance for the Mentally Ill and other community groups and is currently on the Advisory Board of Disciples of Trinity (DOT), a 501c3 grassroots organization serving more than 2,000 terminally ill children, women and men. She has served on the Cultural Affairs Commission of the City of Dallas. Ms. Crumpler is also Co-Editor of The DOT Newsletter and Co-Chairperson of DOT MOMS, a one-on-one counseling service for mothers who have lost children. Her two sons, Bruce and Dean, passed away some years ago.

This long time Dallas resident has served also as Publicist for various groups and produced a Directory of Services for the Hearing Impaired in Dallas and Tarrant Counties.
