FICTION - Romance (General)

Sort By: Products per Page:
By Gita Audhya
The culture of Hawaii, the spirituality of India, lots of romance and love, corporate corruption, father's greed, and melancholy unhappiness made “In Pursuit of Love, Spirituality and Happiness” multi-dimensional. My book is about higher feelings. We've all had some sort of spiritual experiences in our lives. That is just one slice of my story. The juicy part has plenty of romance and finding happiness in love. Starting out, my hero is just an ordinary young American man born into enormous wealth who has no knowledge of the real world. Then Jonathan meets Oliana, a beautiful Hawaiian girl, while on vacation and everything changes. Jonathan learns about nature and religion, faith and trust, power and helplessness, and (most importantly) love. Later in the book his own ethical values and Oliana's vast supportive love prepare him to confront his evil father's greed. The readers will witness his tormented heart racked by helplessness and see him gradually mature to become an individual - his own person, not controlled by the desires and rules of others as all of us make this journey to find who we are and who we are supposed to be. Do you think Oliana and Jonathan will return back to Hawaii where they first fell in love?

Lies, deceit, and destruction seem to be the only thing plaguing the lives of these few people. Anna May does her best in life to get by without getting hit in the face by reality, but that’s being made difficult by her best friend, Lauren, and Sean, Lauren’s fiancé. Lauren is what you call a flaky, flighty, needy human being with only one mission in her life, which is to get whatever she wants, and she doesn’t care who she hurts in the meantime, including her fiancé, Sean. Sean loves her more than anything in the world, and she could care less. Anna May and Lauren work at the Purple Elephant nightclub, dancing on bar tops in short shorts and tall boots, and there is where Lauren met Vincent, the new barback. The second they laid eyes on each other, she was hooked on him and left Sean out to dry. Anna May did her best to comfort him, but as much as she tried, she couldn’t talk him off the ledge, and eventually, he lost it. Stalking is the best term for the way he was, but not only was he stalking Lauren but was coming after Anna May as well. Anna May did her best to protect her friend but is having trouble protecting herself. The only axe in the middle of all this horror is everyone’s real feelings, mostly Anna May’s feelings, for Sean. She was in love with him, and she couldn’t deny it. So the real question is, is lying really worth the pain—the pain of the truth?

Losing his wife to breast cancer after 50 years of marriage, forces Phil to seek an answer to a question. Did he and his wife Terry have a “real” marriage, or was it more of a charade? Phil candidly shares the personal joys and sorrows of his life with Terry in an attempt to relinquish his own feeling of guilt, remorse, and loneliness. Taking Back Sunday is his permission slip to let go just as he gave the same permission slip to his wife moments before her death.

Dwelling on the all-time favorite genre of romance, this is a fictional tale that contains slight spiritual messages and subtle social issues sprinkled into it. Billie Barrett was an odd one, straight and true, misery and anger all wrapped into one lonely soul. It is a love story between a young angry, hateful shrimper who lives in the village of Edgewater, which is located along the St. Johns River in northern Florida, and a young Gullah woman who is from an island, St. Helena Island, off the Beaufort coast of South Carolina. Shrimping had been what he had grown into and what he intends to do throughout his lifetime. His world comes crashing down upon him when, after a boating accident, he is washed ashore on a barrier island off the coast in the Gullah region on Hunting Island, South Carolina. After medical attention is given to Billie, he is taken in and cared for by a Gullah family living in St. Helena Island. It is in this household that he meets Bridgette Kamau, who tends to him on a day-to-day basis. Billie has a change of heart and finds himself falling in love. A connection is made between the two, and a story of romance and hope comes to life. As their relationship develops, Billie experiences a change of heart and belief. This story displays how love can change a person whose mind-set was once plagued by ignorance and hatred. A triumph of the good in man over his dark side, Billie Barrett’s journey to finding love and self-redemption makes this story the perfect personification of the human aspiration to ultimately obtain love, peace, and equality in life. You will read into it what you will and get out of it what you perceive.
